CANDLE INFO
For best results when burning Kat's Candles....
Kats Candles burn best when the wax is allowed to pool completely across the jars, making sure it reaches the edges of the jar or tin before blowing them out. This allows the melt pool to be complete and then allows for an even burn down the candle jar and prevents tunneling. If you skip this step, you'll end up burning a tunnel through your candle. Soy guidelines suggest that you make sure you burn them for at least one hour for every inch in diameter, but for no more than 3-4 hours at a time.
One of the best things that you can do for your candles is to keep the wick trimmed to 1/4 of an inch. Wicks that are allowed to get larger than 1/4 of an inch tend to burn faster and smoke. If you are noticing black soot accumulating on your container candles, the wick is too long. Nail clippers are a great tool for trimming wicks that can't be reached with scissors. The wicks may not need to be trimmed every time, but you should check them prior to lighting.
These 2 tips above will help make your candles last longer and burn clean and evenly.
To extinguish the flame: To blow out a candle, a candle snuffer works best. If you don't have a candle snuffer readily available, you can blow out the candle by placing an index finger in front of the flame and blowing gently. This causes the air to surround the flame and minimizes splattering of hot wax from the wax pool.
Candle Safety
Failure to follow the safety tips could result in fire hazard or injury. There is a warning label on all of Kats Candles that can be followed. Be sure to keep the wicks centered and trimmed to between 1/8 and 1/4 inch before each burn. This assists in the even burning of the candle and keeps the flame from becoming too large. Keep the wax free from matches, wick trimmings,or any flammable materials. The containers can become hot and should be set on a heat resistant material to protect your furniture and should be placed on an even surface. You should not relight the candle once the metal wick tab is showing or there is about 1/4 inch of wax left in the jar. The lids should be put back on the candle only after the candle is blown out and has had time to cool. Keep out of reach of children and pets, and away from flammable objects. Keep away from drafts and Never leave a burning candle unattended. If the flame is too high, it is suggested to blow out the candle and trim the wick a little and then relight the candle.
Always avoid drafts: Burning candles in drafty areas can cause uneven burning and excessive smoking. It will also make your candle burn faster. If you notice the flame of the candle flickering in any direction other than straight up, there is a draft. Prevent drafts by keeping burning candles away from heating and air-conditioning vents and open windows.
